Lark, John J. Trause

So yes, we skipped a few weeks. AWP, protesting, and ZineFest simultaneously was a bit much, and we thought it was more important for at least one week to let you guys know about the impending Columbia College Fiction Writing Department apocalypse. Good news! Our department chair has been restored for another year, but there are still some things going on that are questionable. So check out this site, albersforchair.org, for more details, and also this article your fearless Editrice Liz appears in for Inside Higher Ed.

And let's give John Trause a hand, shall we? He waited so long for us to get back to him on this poem, it originally appeared in Eccolinguistics 1.4 [2011], pp. [8-9]. Yet another in our continuing series, apparently, of bird Poems of the Week.

Lark
by John J. Trause

A translation from the French

Lark, nice Lark
Lark, I am going to pluck you.
I am going to pluck your head
I am going to pluck your head
And your head, and your head
Lark, Lark,
Oh Lark, nice Lark,
Lark, I am going to pluck you.
I am going to pluck your eyes
I am going to pluck your eyes
And your head, and your head
Lark, Lark,
Oh Lark, nice Lark,
Lark, I am going to pluck you.

I am going to pluck your ears
I am going to pluck your ears
And your eyes, and your eyes
And your head, and your head
Lark, Lark,
Oh Lark, nice Lark,
Lark, I am going to pluck you.

I am going to pluck your nose
I am going to pluck your nose
And your ears, and your ears
And your eyes, and your eyes
And your head, and your head
Lark, Lark,
Oh Lark, nice Lark,
Lark, I am going to pluck you.

I am going to pluck your mouth
I am going to pluck your mouth
And your nose, and your nose
And your ears, and your ears
And your eyes, and your eyes
And your head, and your head
Lark, Lark,
Oh Lark, nice Lark,

Lark, I am going to pluck you.
